Katherine Schwarzenegger is Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver’s eldest daughter. She is the first of four children the couple share and was born in 1989. Although her parents are incredibly famous, Katherine has kept a low profile and avoided the paparazzi and public attention. Neither has Katherine relied on her parents for success.

Arnold’s eldest daughter has built her own identity. From a young age, Katherine was passionate about helping animals and has authored multiple books on the importance of animal rescue. In 2017, the author launched her third book and envisioned her perfect plan to help animals.
Katherine is making Arnold Schwarzenegger proud
In 2017, Katherine Schwarzenegger gave an exclusive interview with Jenna Bush Hager of NBC’s TODAY show. The interview took place at an ASPCA Adoption Center, and Katherine talked about her then-newly launched children’s book, “Maverick and Me” Katherine wrote the book when she was 27.
Jenna asked Katherine what the then-27-year0old hoped children would learn from the book. “Just the awareness of animal rescue,” said Arnold’s daughter. She hoped kids reading her book would be inclined to adopt rescue animals later in life. “(Kids) get to a point in their life where they’re turning to their parents and saying ‘Mommy and Daddy, I want a dog or I want a cat,‘” said Katherine.

She hoped the kids who read her book might ask their parents to “take them to the ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) or to a local rescue to pick out their first animal.” Katherine also said she became aware of animal rescue at a young age, and it became her passion.
Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver’s daughter is also an ambassador for the ASPCA. During the interview, she recalled her first experience with animal rescue. Katherine recalled randomly coming across a pet shop looking for foster caregivers on a Thanksgiving morning. After she and her sister filled out the form, they got their first batch of puppies to foster.
How Katherine met Maverick

The Maverick in “Maverick and Me” is Katherine’s pet dog. While talking to Jenna, she revealed how she met Maverick. Katherine recalled getting a call from a woman. The woman requested her to take in a dog found under the freeway. “Of course I said yes, and it was such an incredible experience,” said Arnold’s daughter.
Katherine only needed to foster Maverick for a short time. However, she developed a close bond with Maverick and adopted the puppy.
