With devastating news across various fraternities, regarding health and illnesses, Maria Shriver has been standing in support of the country. Recently, the news of actor Bruce Willis being diagnosed with Frontotemporal dementia had already caused waves of sadness. But before that, journalist and ex-wife of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Maria Shriver, had another heartfelt message for someone else.
Shriver took to Twitter to pen a note to Senator John Fetterman for his courage and strength. The political figure recently went public with his diagnosis of an illness suffered by millions, according to Shriver. Such an act of grit called for appreciation.

Senator Fetterman’s candid approach to his illness
Shriver is not unfamiliar with mental health issues. In fact, her daughter Christina Schwarzenegger has also produced movies related to various mental health issues, and what follows. She refers to herself as an open-minded and open-hearted journalist. So, when the news of Senator John Fetterman checking himself into a hospital for clinical depression came out, the journalist had a lot to say.

According to an article by the NY Times, Senator Fetterman suffered a serious stroke last year, which seems to have impacted his depression significantly. He decided to check himself in for clinical depression, and Shriver wholeheartedly approved of the decision. The journalist pointed out that a public figure like him throwing light on a mental health issue was a hugely positive step.

Maria Shriver applauded Senator Fetterman’s courage
Shriver praised the senator for his positive approach and wrote, “Millions of people suffer from depression. It takes courage and strength to seek treatment, especially if you are in a public position.” While she welcomed the hope for a better future with increased awareness about mental health issues, she also wished that the Senator would be met with compassion.

Shriver has often spoken up about mental health issues, especially depression among men. A few months ago, when dancer Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss passed due to suicide, the journalist raised concerns. With that, she now tries her best to stand up for those who take proactive steps and raise awareness. Senator Fetterman’s news brought a ray of hope, that she now counts on.
