The journey from fat to fit is not always an easy one. For some, it can just be the passion to get into shape; however, for 35-year-old Mathew Riggs, the motivation came from his son’s question, for which he had no answer. Life was going usual for Mathew until his son asked if he was “going to have a heart attack and die.” Though the father did not have an answer to his son’s query, the question eventually changed his life’s dynamics forever.

As the proud father sat down for a chat with Express.co.uk, he shared an inspiring tale of how he naturally got rid of 196 pounds. A story and journey that did not just help him transform his life for the better but also made him a role model for others.

The inspiring tale of Mathew

Before Mathew embarked on his ‘weight loss journey, he was alarmingly obese. During that time, he weighed around 378 pounds. However, when his son came home from school after learning about the human body and asked if he was going to die, Mathew decided to take matters into his hands.

He then soon “joined the gym and trained seven days a week.” He diligently followed the routine that was prepared for him. As he said, two days a week, he focused on his “cardio,” and for the remaining five days, he worked on weights. Alongside sweating out in the gym, he also paid particular emphasis to his diet.

He said, “I cut out three takeaway meals and a bottle of dark rum a day.” Also, to stay healthy, he dedicated a lot of his time to researching what to do and what to avoid. His efforts paid off when, within a short span of three years, he shed around 196 pounds naturally.

Mathew had not just shredded off his extra pounds but had also secured himself the title of Pure Elite Transformation champion. Over the course of three years, Mathew radically transformed his body weight by opting for a healthy lifestyle, diet, and mindset.

However, the journey to achieve that feat was never easy. He recalled, “I went to the gym for 755 days in a row – even on Christmas day. I was losing a stone a month and was feeling amazing.” However, he was too determined to give up. He worked hard to show everyone that if there’s a will, there’s a way.
