Arnold Schwarzenegger did not achieve his Mr. Olympia-winning physique overnight. It took years of intense training at the gym to get it. Gradually, working out became an integral part of his daily routine. It reached the point where he wasn’t able to keep away from the gym, even on his honeymoon.
Ever since Arnie was a kid, his father conditioned him to train in the gym. During the 80s, in one of the interviews that took place soon after his wedding, Schwarzenegger revealed that he couldn’t go a day without exercising. Therefore, when he went on his honeymoon with Maria Shriver, he stuck with his habit.

He further mentioned that he worked out when he was on his honeymoon too. He said, “I exercized in my honeymoon.” When the audience laughed at Schwarzenegger’s revelation, Carson said, “Oh, come on, a man gotta do what he’s gotta do.” Explaining the entire ordeal, Schwarzenegger said, “It was funny because we made a reservation at a certain hotel and they put our room and where I stayed was right above a gymnasium.”
Furthermore, he explained the reason why it was important for him to stay in shape. “And so I think the guy thought that I would be working out every day which I did and I still worked at because I was right in the middle of filming, so I had to go back to Mexico still being in shape and not worn out by Maria,” said the Terminator actor.
