Lou Ferrigno. Losing 80% of his hearing at the age of three, Ferrigno refused to give up, later winning two Mr. Universe titles and becoming a popular actor. Two years back, the bodybuilder-turned-actor found an apt solution in hearing aid technology. In a recent Instagram post, the Hulk actor detailed his experiences since the time he underwent the procedure for cochlear implants.

The Hulk actor implied how he was watching the cat video ‘What’s amazing about cats’ using a cochlear implant. A cochlear implant is a hearing device that stimulates the ear to hear sounds accurately. Continuing, the actor explained how he could hear sounds better on the iPhone and iPad. He enjoyed the luxury of having the option to mute and eliminate background noise.

“So, phenomenally, so nice, that I can hear the inflection of other people’s voices, especially when they talk.”

In another Instagram video, he

described the benefits of the cochlear implant such as enjoying the simple moments of joy while driving a car and listening to the radio at the same time. He also told fans how the experience has been no less than “a complete rebirth.” Further, in a Twitter post, he also shared with fans, “My #Kanso2 Sound Processor makes life easier – from putting it on to chatting with family.”

Lou added, “From acting on set with my recent filming project to the future of better hearing, I am enjoying the journey of hearing I am on!” Tracing back his history of hearing loss, the Hulk once opened up about his initial experiences when he was just a legend in the making.

During a 2021 interview, Ferrigno revealed that he

lost his hearing abilities due to nerve damage. Elaborating further, he told how his parents didn’t take him to the doctor due to his young age. One of the first indications that led his parents to doubt his hearing capacities was “when they clapped their hands, I didn’t respond.”  Since then, Lou’s parents knew that their son was going to have a difficult life. That came out to be true when two-time Mr. Universe was constantly dragged down by bullies at school. This was, however, not the end of his struggles.

In 2021, Ferrigno, 20, competed in New York in a bodybuilding competition. Unfortunately, his hearing aid fell out. Unable to hear a thing, Ferrigno then bravely stood on the stage and give his best shots at the poses.
