There have been other bodybuilders too who have won the competition in non-consecutive years. However, it was only Cutler who won it back a year later from the one who took it away in the first place. Jay Cutler has won the Mr. Olympia contest four times, 2006, 2007, 2009, and 2010.

Losing once wasn’t the end of the reign for Jay Cutler

Recently, Jay Cutler took to his Instagram and shared a video talking about what it was like to lose to Dexter Jackson. He also spoke about the thrill of winning it back again. Cutler shared a motivational video that had some clips from his winning days to let people know they can get back up even if they fall. The caption for the post read, “Real Champions and real winners will pick themselves up and overcome all odds. Leave the past behind, turn failure into opportunity.”

In his video, Jay shared that losing to Dexter wasn’t the worst thing, rather it was the exact opposite of it. Jay said, “I think losing to Dexter was the best thing to ever happen to me. I think I get complacent. I think I get used to winning.” He shared that people find joy in watching the winners lose, but when that happens, they walk away.

He also added that the genuine thrill of winning those fans back and gaining new ones along the way. “But you know when you lose and come back and win and you are better than ever, you gain all those new fans plus you gain those old fans back.”
