Bodybuilding contests have witnessed popularity and competitiveness increase year after year. To secure a place at the top, bodybuilders from across the globe spend years training, put intense efforts, also sometimes take life-threatening risks. Milos Sarcev, a bodybuilder from Serbia, used a site-enhancement oil without learning its usage or effects. In a 2020 interview, Sarcev revealed how ridiculously near-fatal that decision was.

A predominantly believed notion is that the bigger the body, the better the chances of winning a bodybuilding contest. Bodybuilding legend Ronnie Coleman once clarified that size is not everything. However, one can’t dispute the fact that a bigger body is every bodybuilder’s goal. The 58-year-old Serbian bodybuilder regretted using Synthol during his IFBB professional phase in the late 90s to achieve bigger biceps. It not only put him on the verge of death but also ruined his physique.

“Monkey see, monkey do” in the bodybuilding world

The Serbian bodybuilder described using Synthol oil for enhancing his biceps as his biggest regret. He did so without learning about its effects. “Monkey see, monkey do,” he described, following the popular trend blindly. Bodybuilders have used Synthol oil for decades to increase muscle mass, and definition and give fullness to the part in focus.

Sarcev described Synthol as a “dangerous compound.” He revealed that he injected it directly into his vein, which led to congestive heart failure. While it also affected his respiratory system, he said only a small percentage of people survive this condition. The host asked whether this happened in its first use.

The former bodybuilder clarified that he had used it for more than a year. To a question of whether it showed any improvement, he said, “I hated the look.” Comparing his biceps to bricks, he said they “looked ridiculous, stupid, unnatural.” The former IFBB pro displayed hesitation to open up about the good side of using Synthol, for he was afraid it would encourage others to use it.
