Arnold Schwarzenegger’s name is synonymous with bodybuilding while Frank Zane, the King of Aesthetics, will never fade away from the memory of the bodybuilding community. The Chemist defeated the legendary Arnold Schwarzenegger while competing for the Mr. Universe title in 1968. The latter went on to win the Mr. Olympia title 7 times while Zane won it thrice.

The bodybuilding rivals of the 70’s era, however, have concreted their friendship off-stage by supporting each other in life. Now, the 80-year-old bodybuilding legend wants Mike O’Hearn to portray ‘The Austrian Oak’ character from the 1969 movie. 

Frank Zane wishes to see Mike O’ Hearn portray Hercules

Zane even in his eighties continues to contribute to the bodybuilding arena by sharing his experiences and knowledge to enlighten the rookie bodybuilders. Recently he was filmed spending some time with Mike O’Hearn in the gym. O’Hearn could be seen flexing his brawny figure as Zane looks on. The former burst into laughter seconds after the muscle show and says,” It’s tough,” to his mentor.

Impressed with the musculature of the 54-year-old O’Hearn, Zane suggested the former should try for the ‘Hercules’ role. Schwarzenegger portrayed the lead role in his debut movie, 1969’s ‘Hercules in New York’ when he was just 22 years old. And now, Zane could resemble O’Hearn, the 54-year-old legend, with Schwarzenegger’s character.

The Chemist and Schwarzenegger befriended each other in 1968 while competing with each other. They even shared an apartment during their prime years and used to train together at Gold’s Gym. They still share a bond of mutual respect and friendship

Frank Zane came to Arnold Schwarzenegger’s rescue once

Though Schwarzenegger donned multiple hats as an actor, politician, and bodybuilder like no other, he was not very fond of math. It was Zane who came to Schwarzenegger’s rescue in helping him with Algebra. In a 2019 interview, Frank Zane revealedArnold was going to Santa Monica city college and I helped him with his math,” to Escape Fitness.

He also spoke of how Schwarzenegger helped him learn various techniques and prompts while working out together. This reflects that their rivalry is limited to the stage. Both legends contributed immensely to the sport and created a special space in fans’ hearts. Their excellence will forever be etched in the history of bodybuilding.
