Despite suffering from a major health issue, Banks still worked towards his entrepreneurial venture until the end. His wife, Lafayette Banks, had a heartfelt letter for fans regarding her husband’s death.

Lafayette took to Facebook to share an ode to her husband and his struggles as she announced his demise. The heartbroken wife of the bodybuilder asked for time to process her grief. While her ode made fans emotional, she also revealed the behind-the-scenes of what had happened with Lee. Here are some of the details.

Lee Banks’ war with cancer and wife’s heartbroken tribute
Witnessing a loved one suffer through a major disease like cancer is tough. Lafayette became Lee’s support system while he prepared for shows and trained amidst his cancer diagnosis. In a detailed Facebook post, she revealed how in 2018, the bodybuilder noticed something off. An extreme change in his metabolism rates, while training and continuing a normal routine, rang alarm bells in Lee’s mind.

What followed was a series of tests and visits to the doctor, only for them to initially dismiss the bodybuilder since his reports always came back normal. However, Lee persisted till the very end. And in 2020, he was proven correct – with a diagnosis of stage 4 cancerous carcinoid tumor.

After watching her partner battle the disease for about two years, Lafayette announced with a heavy heart, “After many battles, my warrior passed away from complications with carcinoid syndrome.” She drew a picture of her husband as a soldier with her words. Cancer wasn’t easy on the family, but Lee’s spirit to keep trudging forth kept the family holding on to hope.

Lee passed away at the Mayo Clinic & Hospital in Jacksonville. While fans poured in their love and condolences for the family, Lafayette had a special request. The wife of the bodybuilder asked for time to process her grief and comfort their children as they navigated through the pain as a family.
