“Kids Were Crying”: Arnold Schwarzenegger Admitted in 2012 That His Devotion to Work as Governor Often Accounted for His Children’s Tears

Arnold Schwarzenegger served as the governor of California for eight years. He worked as the governor from 2003 to 2011. Moreover, the year 2011, was not a good year for the bodybuilding legend. Firstly, he stepped down from the governor’s post, and later Maria divorced him.

However, the eight years he served as the governor were quite busy days for him. He might not have been this much engaged in his work even while bodybuilding or making movies. During an interview in 2012, he confessed about his busy life working for the people and how it affected his children.

Arnold Schwarzenegger’s busy schedule bothered his children

As a child, a person needs the presence of their parents the most. However, if your father or mother is a public figure or had to work the maximum of their time, it hurts. Similarly, when Arnold served as the governor, he was too occupied with his political job. He couldn’t even give proper time to his children. 

In 2012, he admitted it in an interview. He confessed, “I came home and all of a sudden one of my kids started crying and saying daddy you didn’t come to my recital and then all of a sudden the next kid said yeah, he didn’t come to my football game and then my daughter was saying yeah he didn’t come to my dance and you are never around and then all of a sudden all of the kids were crying.”

Fortunately for the kids, Maria was a wonderful mother. She used to let the kids express themselves and let the anguish come out. In addition, she listened to the kids and make them feel wanted. During that time also, she told the kids to let all the anger and tears come out and not let them get trapped inside.

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver make great parents

Although their ways got parted in 2011, Arnold and Maria have been constantly together for their children. All four children have always been backed up and cared for by both their parents. Shriver had to leave her job, since Arnold became the governor. It contributed to the extra time she could give to her children and mould them better.

Arnold has himself told many times, “Maria has been an extraordinary woman, extraordinary wife, friend lover everything.” They have together looked after four amazingly talented kids. Moreover, they complete each other as parents.

It might be true, Arnold wasn’t very available during the childhood of his children. However, now, he takes time out of his schedule and supports his children in all the endeavors they aim for. Above everything, both have backed their children throughout their lives and guided them towards magnificent career paths.
