The dominance that he showed in various competitions is just unmatched. Ronnie has opened up about the usage of steroids by bodybuilders in multiple interviews.
Ronnie Coleman reveals the reason why the DEA entered into bodybuilding
The legendary bodybuilder, Ronnie Coleman, appeared on the Joe Rogan Experience, where he talked about many widely-ranged topics. Coleman narrated his bodybuilding journey through his diet as well as the use of steroids in the early part of his career. “I was tired of getting my a** kicked,” said Coleman, describing the losses during the initial stages of his career.
Talking about the usage of steroids, Ronnie revealed that it helped him level the playing field. Coleman claimed that everything was legal in those times, and he would use prescriptions from doctors to use steroids. “I wasn’t taking tons of stuff. I probably wasn’t taking any more than what those baseball players were taking”, he said. Several studies have proved the harmful effects of steroids, such as premature death. They even suggested that people using anabolic steroids had a risk of committing suicide.
For a long time, a law enforcement agency that controlled the usage of substances by bodybuilders did not back bodybuilding. It led to a horrific situation. Opening up on the situation, he said, “They had kids out there taking it and committing suicide”. After such an alarming situation, the DEA had to intervene and set a standard for banned substances.
Ronnie’s diet
A factor that defines a bodybuilder is his diet and discipline. A lot of speculations have been made about Ronnie’s diet plan. So Ronnie decided to put an end to it once and for all. He revealed his diet routine in the podcast with Joe Rogan. He revealed that getting to his peak form took him many years. It wasn’t an overnight change that made him a champion bodybuilder.

“I put on between five and 10 pounds of muscle a year, and that came from all that heavy lifting, a lot of eating, a lot of eating. So, I’d eat a pound of chicken, grilled breast with half a cup of rice. I had about six meals a day.” Ronnie revealed that such a diet plan would make him hungry every three hours, as his food did not involve a lot of fat.
