

Four-time World’s Strongest Man champion Brian Shaw recently shared his experiences about a medical emergency that nearly put his career into a quietus. Hospitalized for a leg infection in January, Shaw had to put the breaks on his training for his final competition before retirement. Holding nothing back on his Youtube channel Shawstrength, Shaw shared unknown realities of his prep days before the competition.

Describing the bad timing of this infection 12 weeks before the competition, Shaw shared with fans a glimpse of his painful struggles and the biggest challenge that he had to face at the hospital.

Brian Shaw recounts his unforgettable battle ahead of the Strongman competition
In a recent video shared on his Youtube channel, Shaw narrated, “I, unfortunately, came down with a very very bad leg infection and I uh got some antibiotics at home. I thought it was gonna help kinda of knock it out and it did not. Just kept getting worse and worse and worse”, he added.
Further, he elaborated that the infection got so painful that he had trouble walking. This was the last straw that made Shaw finally seek medical attention. Fortunately, the infection had not gone into his bloodstream, saving Shaw from undergoing a possible amputation.

Later, Shaw explained that his biggest challenge in the hospital was to upkeep his dietary regime. Luckily, Shaw found a mix of good solutions to this problem. “Keri has been bringing me meals to supplement” he stated, referring to his wife. In addition to this, he also told that he had been ordering food from the hospital menu.

Afterward, Shaw shared with fans how he was having bison and rice at the hospital. Divulging that he was trying to have five meals a day while he was in the hospital, Shaw revealed that his goal was to walk out of the hospital without losing much weight. Clearly, Shaw is still focused on his goal of competing in the World’s Strongest Man competition and wishes to be in shape for the competition.

Evidence of Shaw’s tremendous dedication can be seen in his recent, workout video, where he trained hard, sparing no effort to prepare for his last contest.

Deadlifting with power, Brian trained with Trey Big Thicket Mitchell, Evan Singleton, Bobby Thompson, and Kevin Faires ahead of the World’s Strongest Man 2023 competition. Telling fans how training together will help to enhance everyone’s fitness, Shaw pushed himself hard to work out in the gym. However, this is not all.

Earlier, the former strongman also shared a video of exercising his arm muscles with Thompson Fatbells in the gym on Instagram.
