Though the recovery time depends on the fitness level and the level of difficulty of the exercise, the pros prefer to maintain a gap of 72 hours between workouts. Fitness experts like Flex Wheeler, Jay Cutler, and Chris Bumstead always emphasize resting the limbs to gain the ultimate muscle.

Recently, Cutler underlined the effect of adequate rest on muscle expansion. The 4-time Mr. Olympia shared a video on TikTok giving advice about the same. What, according to the professional, fuels the volume? Let’s dig deeper into it.

Jay Cutler reveals his approach to growth

The 49-year-old IFBB professional etched his name on the history of bodybuilding with his four Olympia trophies. After taking an unofficial retirement from the sport, he is now focusing on Cutler Nutrition. Distant from the sport, Cutler always advocates issues related to the fitness fraternity. Recently, the former Mr. O shared his golden words about gaining muscle, on a TikTok video. Captioning it with, “How long should you rest between workouts”, the fitness icon revealed his approach to it.

 

The American icon shared, “…remember, recovery is when the muscle is growing. So be be choosy, about how you react and how you monitor your workout routines and always focus on the growth.” Moreover, sharing his experience, the pro stated, “I was going to train my biceps, I would give myself 5 to 7 days rest in between. From research shows that you need 72 hours to you know when you train a muscle with volume to recover that muscle group. So I would say definitely 72 hours rest before you train it again. Not just say you can’t shock the body and train it you know several times, if you want to do biceps three times a week its a smaller muscle group.”
