An individual is almost always told to work out in their younger days, so it gets easier when they grow old. And now,  85-year-old, Jane Fonda is a testament to the saying. Fonda is an actress, model, and now fitness influencer. The Academy Award winner doesn’t let age deter her from enjoying the simple pleasures of life.

Amidst an ongoing fitness session, Fonda sat down with Vanity Fair to talk about her journey so far. The star had a lot to talk about fitness in old age, but there was one particular learning moment that she wanted to share with the readers.

Jane Fonda takes her workouts seriously

At an age where people would prefer to retire peacefully, sit around, and not do a lot, Fonda deceives expectations. The 85-year-old makes sure to stay up-to-date with her workouts and keeps herself active. Her love-hate relationship with workouts began in 1982, with her VHS tape titled Jane Fonda’s Workout. The at-home workout video became an instant hit!

Recalling her good old days, Fonda mentioned how her relationship with workouts evolved over the years. While she still followed the VHS tape, she made when she was young, age changed her body. Fonda no longer works out at the same pace that she used to. However, she does follow routines and even has a trainer who specializes in people above the age of 50. This helps her work on her body, keep it up and running, and stay active.

However, Fonda confessed that she never loved working out in her younger years. She revealed, “I hated doing it. I never liked working out, but I feel so good afterwards that I just do it”. And now, she’s grateful for the work her younger self did. She fondly remembered her 3.5-year-old grandson and how her workouts have helped her stay strong enough to pick him up whenever she wished to.

Fonda firmly believed that working out and taking care of oneself were extremely important. During old age, one needs to be efficient enough to perform basic movements. This would only be possible if the body remains well-maintained right from the beginning.
