“That Always Pisses Me Off”: Arnold Schwarzenegger Defends Female Co-Star on Being Termed As ‘Supporting Actress’

Arnold Schwarzenegger is a man with a multitude of talents. He played different blockbuster roles both in his personal life and acting career. Besides, he’s an outstanding individual, a great friend, and is true to his heart. Recently, Arnold graced the ceremony to celebrate his co-actor Jamie Lee Curtis’ hand and footprints being immortalized in cement in front of the TLC Chinese Theater.

Arnold and Jamie worked together in ‘True Lies’, a spy action comedy released in 1994. The James Cameron directorial grossed $378 million worldwide at the box office, becoming the third-highest-grossing film of the year. During the ceremony, the Terminator took to the stage to place on record the talent and caliber the ‘True Lies’ actress showed over four decades and strongly dismissed certain comments about her.

Arnold Schwarzenegger was angry

Schwarzenegger reminisced about his experience with Curtis on the sets of ‘True Lies’ in 1994. He said that she was the most extraordinary actress he’s ever worked with. He went on to tell about one thing that made him extremely angry when it came to people underestimating Curtis.

He said there were a lot of stars in Hollywood with one hit or two hits, “this woman has hits for more than four decades. Think about that,” he said. In addition, he appreciated the ‘Halloween’ movie series actress’ versatility in acting with ease in any genre: love, comedy, action, or whatever it is. “She can do it. I’ve seen it first-hand.” He said.

Schwarzenegger said that calling her a supporting actress in the movie ‘True Lies,’ ‘pisses’ him off. He reiterated that she was the female lead. She was the star.

“She was starring with me, and she had [her name] above the title credits!”

“That always pisses me off…because I know the value that she has.”

Arnold was initially doubtful to act alongside Jamie Lee Curtis

Arnold was reluctant to pull off the character written for the movie. Jamie begins her role as a normal mom and wife. Eventually, she is dragged into a completely new world of danger and espionage. She learns that her husband, played by Arnold, is an international spy. The rest of the movie revolves around dealing with the terrorist threat they evade and the romance they rekindle.

The dilemma Schwarzenegger faced was because of Jamie Lee’s father, Tony Curtis. They worked together on a project. It was this connection that put Arnold in an awkward situation. However, the two actors shared great chemistry on screen.
