One such instance was seen when Arnold Schwarzenegger worked with Jamie Lee Curtis.

Jamie Lee Curtis starred opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger in the 1994 film True Lies. While Curtis was cast, makers didn’t plan on giving her the female lead initially. That is when the megastar of the movie, Schwarzenegger, stepped in. Moreover, that wasn’t the only occasion he stood up for Curtis.

In 1994, before Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jamie Lee Curtis starer True Lies was released, the filmmakers had decided to pass Curtis off as a supporting character. For the official poster of the movie, they decided her name would be below the title, indicating that she had starred in a supporting role instead of being the leading lady. However, when the word got to Schwarzenegger, it didn’t sit well with the Terminator actor.

Schwarzenegger fought with the filmmakers and demanded that her name should be next to his on the poster. The bodybuilder-turned-actor compelled the studio to change their decision and give the actress her fair share of recognition.

However, this wasn’t the only time he stood up for the said actress. Arnold Schwarzenegger utterly detests the idea of anyone undermining Curtis’ achievements.

Three decades and he still defends the leading lady of the film

In late 2022, Jamie Lee’s hand and footprint were immortalized in front of the TLC Chinese Theatre. While congratulating his former co-star, Schwarzenegger complimented Curtis for her versatile acting skills. Furthermore, he reiterated that Curtis was the female lead of his movie True Lies and not just a supporting character.

Schwarzenegger revealed how annoyed he gets when someone undermines her work and passes it off as a supporting role. He stressed that she was “starred” opposite him and was the “star” of the movie just as much as he was. Furthermore, he revealed that while most actors can give two to three hits, Curtis has been doing so for over four decades. Therefore, it isn’t fair to call her a supporting actress.
