Apart from all things political, the White House once boasted of an exceptional chef whose flair went beyond the realms of taste and ingredients. Andre Rush, a bodybuilder turned chef was brought to the limelight after his pictures went viral on Twitter. Rush is an avid gym rat and works out around a mind-blowing regimen. 

In a Twitter post by a notable journalist, Vivian Salama, three White House chefs were seen preparing dishes ahead of Ramadan in 2018. Among them, Rush’s conspicuous, shredded build, garnered significant recognition from the bodybuilding community, who were left stunned.

As per the social media update, the 49-year-old celebrity chef was left perplexed over the sudden stardom. He was overwhelmed with responses from fans with high regard for his 24-inch biceps. “The other day my friend was like, ‘You’re famous,” he said. Later on, he opened up about his physique in an interview saying he follows a rigid routine of 2,222 pushups on weekdays, with 200 push-ups at once, and sticks to a diet big on gains. Apart from that, he follows a “72 hour rule” focusing on every aspect of his body every three days.

Rush is also a former Master Sergeant of the US Army forces and raises awareness about veteran suicides through the “#22Pushupchallenge.” Significantly, he has worked for four administrations at the official residence, serving the Clintons, the Bushes, the Obamas, and lastly for the Trumps. Spotlighting his massive strength, he claimed, “I never got into fights, but I’d have grown men try to [take me on], because I was unusually strong.”

Surprisingly, the icon began his chef life in 1994. He disclosed that many leaders like Bush and Obama, have enquired about the secret to his robust physique, and how he managed to retain it all these years. “I tell them, you just have to be motivated to get to the gym. There’s no excuse!,” Rush stated to Men’s Health. Additionally, he indicated that even his four kids are driven toward fitness, and admire the chef’s regime. However, Rush had been through a gradient of professions before landing the esteemed job.

Reportedly, Rush hails from Columbus and was a football player in school. Even though he wasn’t the biggest one, he claimed to be the strongest on the team. During his teenage days, he benched 350 pounds with 150 pounds of body weight. His friends called him “horse.” Sharing an anecdote, he said a pro wrestler visiting his school was unable to move him once.

“He told me, ‘You’re an unstoppable force,” the chef recounted. Following his school days, he joined the military at 21. He cooked for senior officials there. Undertoning his change of profession he narrated, “I got tired of being serious and being out in the field 24/7…plus, I just love to eat!”. To his credit, even G.O.A.T. Arnold Schwarzenegger sneaked out from his military duties to pursue his bodybuilding dream and was soon dismissed from the forces.
