From aspiring to get a free membership in the gym to becoming one of the world’s greatest bodybuilders, the journey of Ronnie Coleman is a moving tale of destiny and hard work. Released in 2018, ‘Ronnie Coleman–The King’ is a Netflix Documentary film featuring his life and career. The film took the story of Coleman to an extensive audience. In a 2021 interview, Coleman shared he has become a lot more famous because of the movie but hadn’t watched it himself.

Since he shot to stardom, the eight-time Mr. Olympia has become a template for bodybuilders. It is a bit surprising to know that The King rarely looked at himself in the mirror. Also, in the interview, he shared why he couldn’t watch the documentary. Connecting the dots, one would agree that the reason is probably the same for why he rarely viewed himself in the mirror or not watched the movie.

Ronnie Coleman never bothered about watching himself

Coleman won eight consecutive Mr. Olympia titles and made his last appearance on the world stage in 2007. Speaking about the film by Russian filmmaker Vlad Yudin’s documentary “Ronnie Coleman: The King, he shared he didn’t have time to watch the film. Continuing further, Ronnie mentioned that he noted the positive impact of his fame. “I’ve been so busy,” he said.

Besides, he shared, “I never cared much for watching myself on video either.” Sharing the feedback he heard from others, he stated, “I heard it came out pretty good.” It has been evident in the responses he got on his appearances because of the film. “A lot more people come out. I’ve become a lot more famous because of that.”

Talking about the business side and other accomplishments of the King: the year 2021 marked a decade since the launch of his supplement products line. To commemorate the milestone year and scale up his business, the bodybuilding legend launched a fitness app named after his popular catchphrase, ‘Yeah Buddy.’

Coleman didn’t ask for this stardom

It is undeniable that bodybuilding is in his gene, and blessed with a spectacular physique, the universe showed him a way to pursue the sport. In 1989, when Ronnie Coleman joined the police department, his behemoth body made him stand apart. Back then, he wanted a free membership in the gym. He had no plans to unleash his muscular potential and make a career out of it.

Eventually, he made his pro debut in 1992. Determined to win the title, he clinched his first Mr. Olympia title in 1998 and continued his winning streak until 2005, earning eight titles. His intense routines and failed surgeries brought his body to an irreparable condition. Yet, Ronnie continues to make a difference with his AI-driven app, ‘Yeah Buddy’ and his ‘no regret’ smile.
