Ronnie Coleman, the legendary bodybuilder, has etched an irreplaceable place in the annals of the sport. Undeniably, The King is a phenomenon owing to the consecutive eight Mr. Olympia titles and several other achievements and also for tapping another dimension of the sport–having fun.

Coleman got his IFBB Pro card in 1991. He worked out tirelessly to increase his strength and build an immaculate muscular body despite facing failures until his first big break in 1998. The police-turned-bodybuilding champion embraced the sport unprecedentedly, making it possible to perform superhuman powerlifting and deadlifts. Equipped with immense practical knowledge, in an interview two years ago, Coleman opened up on an important aspect of bodybuilding.

Coleman not only earned recognition for his incredible physique and strength, but also for his fondness and passion for bodybuilding. His popular catchphrases, “Yeah Buddy!” and “Lightweight, baby” are a testimony of how much he enjoys the sport. In the interview, he admitted that bodybuilding demands immense hard work.
Fair to say, there are no shortcuts to achieving a competitive and spectacular physique. Speaking about the process of preparation, Coleman said, “It’s not a lot of fun if you, uh don’t enjoy doing it.” Besides, during the days of Coleman’s peak phase, they worked throughout the year maintaining their fitness and diet routines. Also, devising different strategies for pre-competition preparation, and more for that one moment on the stage.
While these days, there are a lot of distractions with social media taking the prime spot in their lives. Speaking on these lines, Big Ron said that he has evolved from time to time, and “Everybody was doing different things. So, you gotta work with what you have to work with, and that’s what we basically did.”

Bodybuilders breathe passion into every rep of their practice. They prepare for that one moment of flex, pose and witness the crowd cheer. In response to what Ronnie looked forward to about the competition, he said, “The most important part of the day is actually getting to compete.” He explained his hard work for the moment and described it as a “24-hour, seven days a week job..uh..”

Continuing further that the moment revolves around getting ready for the show and when the moment arrives, “I’m focused on what I gotta do..” he said. Coleman won eight titles straight, tying his record with Lee Haney. As he was on the verge of setting a record, Jay Cutler, 4x Mr. Olympia, dethroned him.
