Frank Zane is the Godfather Of Symmetry for having the most aesthetically pleasing and perfectly chiseled body. He took home the Mr. Olympia title three times, consecutively from 1977 to 1979.

Frank Zane also cemented his iconic status with the titles of Mr. Universe, Mr. World, and Mr. America. The 80-year-old former bodybuilder opened up about posing in bodybuilding events and the bulky physiques of modern bodybuilders.

Frank Zane finds modern bodybuilding distasteful

In an interview with Bodybuilding.com in 2019, Frank Zane said people thought he had the most symmetrical body ever. Zane claimed that his body was actually not symmetrical and chose asymmetrical poses. 

Zane explained that a person’s body is symmetrical when the left side looks the same as the right. Frank believes when people show both sides of their bodies the same way, it becomes boring for the audience.

Frank said, “It’s a freak show and I find it distasteful although I do admire these guys.” Zane admires the bodybuilders for the hard work and the effort they put in. He claimed that bodybuilding requires a lot of determination and respects it. Although, the Godfather of Symmetry does not prefer what the bodybuilders look like.

Zane expressed his thoughts on who should win

According to Zane, the use of steroids has been associated with bodybuilding because of how most bodybuilders appear. People immediately conjure up thoughts of steroids when they see the contestants’ massive bodies.

Zane believed that someone who had a body like Dexter Jackson should win the bodybuilding contests. However, he also voiced skepticism over his claim, given that Jackson weighed 210 pounds.

According to Frank Zane, Ronnie Coleman, the eight-time Mr. Olympia winner, might make Dexter appear tiny. “Dexter is extremely developed and refined,” Zane stated. He said if he were Dexter, he would have worked to ace his posing routine that brought out his physique better.
