Bodybuilding needs immense patience and perseverance. It demands consistency in attending gyms, quality of the workout, suitable diet and rest. Legendary bodybuilder Arnold Schwarzenegger has been fulfilling these requirements for more than 50 years now. Even at an age of 75, the Austrian Oak still hits the gym to maintain his giant physique. Further, the Terminator actor still has a few insights to share with his fanbase.

However, in 2019, while promoting the latest sequel of his trademark movie The Terminator, Schwarzenegger revealed something that annoys him in the gym all these years. What are the gym habits that annoy the seven-time Mr. Olympia? Let’s find out.

Gym habits that drive Arnold Schwarzenegger ‘nuts’

If you work out in a public gym, you will witness different sorts of people. Some work out seriously, and some don’t. In 2019, while talking with LADbible, Arnold Schwarzenegger opened up on the common gym habits that annoyed him a lot. 

Schwarzenegger explained, “When they do half a rep, or when they do chin-ups and they just go half way up. Or if they do a pull-down exercise or curls and they just sit there and do half a curl. You have to concentrate when you do everything.”

The Terminator added, “It drives me nuts when I see them in the gym. I’ve been seeing this stuff for 50 years because I was always a fanatic about doing the movement the right way – don’t cheat on yourself, just do the exercise the right way.”

Schwarzenegger believes the modern bodybuilders only craves for ‘size’

The veteran bodybuilder has now seen all the phases of bodybuilding. Schwarzenegger began bodybuilding in his teens and has never stopped since. After experiencing half a century in bodybuilding, he believes that modern-day bodybuilders create an obsession with size.

In a 2022 interview with Insider, Schwarzenegger commented some competitors only think about “size, size, size.” As the heat of competition increases, bodybuilders try as hard as they can to be victorious. He continued“The more extreme it gets and the more competitive the top athletes get, the more they are lifting weights that the body was not meant for.”
