Interestingly, the financial expert and journalist, Farnoosh Torabi, also joined the forces with Shriver to help people understand the perks of intervention by the US regulators. Taking to her Twitter handle, Shriver penned, “‘Is my money safe?’ It’s a question on all of our minds. This week, #TheSundayPaper sat down with @Farnoosh to discuss what we should know, what a financial check-up entails, and what money moves she made in the wake of the SVB collapse.”

In the news journal, Torabi conceded, “SVB’s collapse proves that when a bank failure does happen, the government is prepared to step in and take the measures necessary to make the banks solvent again.” She further added, “We need to remember the good news that came out of this: The FDIC stepped in very quickly and contained the issue”.

Moreover, Torabi urged the people to respect their fears and focus more on FDIC’s policies. “It’s easy to focus on the scary stuff, but the other side of this is a good reminder that the system works!” added Torabi. Not just that, the financial counselor also explained the advantages of FDIC and requested everyone to look at the silver lining.

While sharing her perspective on SVB’s collapse, Torabi asserted, “The FDIC proved again that they’re incredibly capable. They keep their word. Without the FDIC, the banking systems and our economy would fail.” Adding to this, the Real Simple Real Life correspondent said, “You’ve also got to remember that while nobody cares more about your money than you, it’s not in any government agency’s interest to lose the confidence of the consumer”.

Clearly, the Sunday Paper gave a ray of hope amidst the distraught created by the collapse of two major financial institutions in the United States. Though people are still frantically mulling over their financial decisions, FDIC came in right on time to their defense by shutting down SVB and Signature’s operations. In the words of Farnoosh Torabi, “You’ll benefit most from focusing on what’s actually within your realm of control”.
