Two-time Mr. Olympia Big Ramy failed to defend his title in 2022, facing his career’s biggest setback. Hoping to bounce back, he has decided to participate in the upcoming Arnold Classic 2023. Ramy is in the spotlight for many bodybuilding experts who are busy predicting his winning chances. However, its founder in a Generation Iron podcast made a shocking statement addressing Ramy’s early retirement.
On 1st March, Generation Iron released a podcast titled Should Big Ramy retire if he doesn’t win Arnold Classic 2023? on Twitter. In that discussion, founder Ehsan Farahi explained what Ramy should do if he does not win Arnold Classic 2023.

After winning for the second time consecutively in 2021, Big Ramy shocked the bodybuilding world by attaining a fifth place in Mr. Olympia 2022. It was Iranian bodybuilder, Hadi Choopan who dethroned the 38-year-old bodybuilder.
Moreover, after his defeat, many bodybuilding experts analyzed what went wrong with him in Mr. Olympia 2022. The popular belief revealed that Ramy could not retain his conditioning like in 2021. However, legendary bodybuilders like Jay Cutler and Arnold Schwarzenegger believed that he can push back. Nevertheless, Ramy had also announced on social media that he will never give up and come back stronger.

As he is set to make an impact in Arnold Classic 2023, many veterans are predicting his performance. However, in the Generation Iron podcast on Twitter, its founder commented on Big Ramy’s early retirement if he does not win in Arnold Classic 2023. He stated, “To my opinion, if Big Ramy does not get place for Arnold, he should stop.” Such a statement has raised eyebrows. Further, he explained why should Ramy retire, and said, “If he competes and he goes down and down, what happens? He cannot comeback as motion wise”
Bouncing back after a significant defeat will definitely uplift Ramy’s career. Indeed, it is a do-or-die situation for the 38-year-old as his performance at the Arnold Classic will be a significant deciding factor in his career in bodybuilding.
A throwback at Big Ramy’s bodybuilding career
Big Ramy realized his natural bodybuilding abilities in his 20s in Kuwait. At 26, he won two amateur competitions that earned him his pro card. He had an amazing start to his career as he also won his debut at the New York Pro championship in 2013. It became evident that Ramy would one day become a star in the bodybuilding world.

He made his debut in Mr. Olympia 2013, winning eighth place. It was quite a great Olympia start for the young Ramy. In 2015, he finished in the Top 5 in Mr. Olympia. Ramy showed promise as he attained second place in the competition in 2017. After dropping to sixth place in 2018, Ramy rose like a phoenix, winning Mr. Olympia 2020 and 2021.
