“I’ll Go to My Grave Knowing Arnold Loved Me”: Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Ex Made a Heartfelt Confession About Their Relationship in 2003

Schwarzenegger is considered one of the greatest bodybuilders in history. Since his early days in America, Schwarzenegger has had many female admirers throughout his career. One of Schwarzenegger’s ex-girlfriends had once made an earnest confession about the bodybuilder.

Arnold Schwarzenegger was the love of her life

Barbara Outland Baker was one of the few persons Schwarzenegger had met when he first arrived in America. In 2003, in a candid discussion with the Telegraph, Baker recalled her days as Schwarzenegger’s girlfriend and his determination for bodybuilding.

She informed that in 1969, Baker started dating the bodybuilder when he was not very well-known to the American people. However, even then, Schwarzenegger attracted a lot of women due to his physique and good looks. However, the seven-time Mr. Olympia only had eyes for Baker. Hence during the interview, Baker stated, “I’ll go to my grave knowing Arnold loved me.”

The two of them dated for almost six years, and during that time, Baker also helped Schwarzenegger to improve his English skills. Baker also appreciated Schwarzenegger for his love and commitment to the sport. “He was interesting. He had this incredible focus and that was very stimulating. He’s as much a self-made man as it’s possible to be – he never got encouragement from his parents, his family, his brother. He just had this huge determination to prove himself, and that was very attractive,” recalled Baker.

By the time Schwarzenegger and Baker broke up in 1975, he had become one of the most well-known bodybuilders in the world and also won several Mr. Olympia titles. Even though Baker did not end up marrying the legendary bodybuilder, she had fond memories of their early times together.

Schwarzenegger’s bodybuilding career

Arnold Schwarzenegger is one of the most acknowledged bodybuilders in history. At 19, The Terminator star had already won the Mr. Europe title. Later, he moved to the US to continue his journey as a professional bodybuilder and make a successful career.

Schwarzenegger won his first Mr. Olympia title in 1970 and kept defending his title for six consecutive years. He won his seventh and final title in the year 1980. Schwarzenegger also has an annual bodybuilding competition – Arnold Classic, named after him.
