During his prime, Ronnie Coleman earned the nickname, The King. The legendary bodybuilder dominated the competition from 1998 to 2005, winning eight Mr. Olympia titles consecutively. He defeated bodybuilding legends like Flex Wheeler and Jay Cutler repeatedly. However, after retiring, The King faced multiple joint-related issues, taking away his ability to walk. Despite the hardships, Coleman’s indomitable spirit didn’t allow him to quit. A week ago, the eight-time Mr. Olympia trained and kept up with a top bodybuilder half his age.
On April 3, the 58-year-old uploaded a video with 2022 Mr. Olympia Runner up, Derek Lunsford. Lunsford, a former 212-Mr. Olympia champion moved up a weight class in 2022. After finding tremendous success in his first outing as an open bodybuilder, Lunsford is looking to win it all this year. Lunsford teamed up with Coleman to learn some things for The King. During the video, Coleman’s energy and ability to keep up with the 29-year-old inspired him and bodybuilding fans.

The bodybuilding legend posted his training video with Derek Lunsford on his YouTube channel. The duo showed their intense and inspiring workout session in the video titled “The KING Training Back & Biceps with DEREK LUNSFORD”. Coleman showed how energetic he is, despite going through multiple surgeries, stem cell therapy, and walking on crutches.
The first movement was the cable row, and next came the lat pull-downs. The other two exercises were for the biceps. First, Coleman and Lunsford did concentration (biceps) curls and finished with hammer curls. During their workout, The King constantly motivated Lunsford to push himself and shouted his signature phrase, “Yeah Buddy!” multiple times. The former champion’s YouTube subscribers got emotional and nostalgic to catch a glimpse of “the old” Ronnie Coleman.
