Kai Greene may have never won Mr. Olympia, but he remains an undisputed sports idol. Securing second place at the 2012, 2013, and 2014 editions of the IFBB’s Mr. Olympia event, Kai left an impression that only a few could. He may have missed the title by a few marks, but he holds no regrets. Though winning is always the essential essence of participating in the competition, he refuses to push himself like Ronnie Coleman.

Talking about ‘The King’s’ bodybuilding journey, Kai had a simple reply. He said, “I wouldn’t do that, of course.” Back in 2017, when Kai sat down for an interview with Generation Iron Fitness, the legend had a lot to share.

Kai opened up about winning

Everyone has a different life journey and motivation. Something that can be important to you may not hold relevance to others. Speaking about Ronnie, Kai made it clear that he would never want a career like his. Seeing Ronnie undergo “back surgery after back surgery,” the 2011 New York Pro champion can not help but question, “why is he doing?”

However, he realizes that priorities are different. He won’t do what Ronnie did because “It’s not as important to you.” Elaborating further, he added, “this is always important because of other reasons that you don’t know you don’t share the same luxury in common with the enthusiasts because there’s more of yourself invested in this.”
