Champions fight back against adversity and bodybuilding legend Ronnie Coleman is not any different. After battling various injuries in his hips, the bodybuilding legend refused to give up in his sport. In an interview with Joe Rogan, Coleman finally revealed the whole story about his battle with serious health issues.


The inarguable bodybuilding GOAT disclosed how he had pain in his back every single time he did a leg workout. Coleman discussed how the pain normally went in an hour. Later, he spoke that one day, after a leg workout, his pain didn’t subside after an hour. Realizing there was a problem, Ronnie Coleman herniated the disk, temporarily reducing his pain. However, his health issues had only begun and during the interview with Joe Rogan, Coleman made shocking revelations about his health.

The 8-time Mr. Olympia champ revealed he did surgery for his back pain in 2007, ten years after that incident. Coleman’s disks had to be herniated to solve his back problem, which was a painful experience. And ultimately, his surgery had an impact on his workout. “I used to be able to bend over and do all these crazy stretches. I can’t do that no more”, Coleman said

During another interview with Generation Iron, the bodybuilding legend revealed how his surgery took 13 hours. ‘I couldn’t even raise my foot off the floor, ‘ Ronnie Coleman spoke. He also told about how he stayed in the hospital for a month after the surgery. 

Coleman further divulged how he had done 12 surgeries. The bodybuilding legend also spoke about how he made efforts to take complete rest for at least 6 months after every surgery.

In another talk with muscular development, Coleman spoke of how he had spent over 1 million dollars on his final 3 surgeries. He also spoke about how he had to get the replacement of both his hips in the Don’t be Sour podcast.

Currently, Ronnie Coleman is active on his YouTube channel where he posts videos about fitness. The ace bodybuilder also owns the popular supplements brand ‘Ronnie Coleman Signature Series.’
