However, a good name and a reputed title come with their own set of hardships. Cutler had to work hard to not just achieve the title once but maintain it for four more championships. This included intense workout sessions that were harsh on his body. In an interview, the star revealed his difficult workout routine and its intense results.
Jay Cutler needed to do his best for the title
Remembering his workout days, Jay Cutler mentioned how his hardcore workout regimen would make him look like he had lost his mind. He would do multiple sets of squats and heavy lifting, even in the harshest of summers. He would not only perform rigorous routines but also work out at a high speed with little to no rest in between. As a result, his body would come close to giving up multiple times. He recalled, “I was drenched. I was just hanging over stuff by the middle of the workout.”
Consequently, Cutler lost massive amounts of energy while working out. The icon remembered how he used to consume about a gallon of water while training to replenish himself. His two-hour workout sessions turned into one of the most rigid training periods, that no common man could easily accomplish.

When asked why he put himself through so much strain, he simply attributed it to the title. Being Mr. Olympia once meant that he needed to uphold that title for the next time as well. The star also mentioned that he loved to train. He wanted his workouts to be so intense, that he shouldn’t be able to walk by the end. This attitude is what got the star his well-deserved title of Mr. Olympia.
