“I Love Oiled Up Men”: Young Arnold Schwarzenegger Once Left His Mother “Crying” Due to His Weird Fanaticism

Arnold Schwarzenegger always dreamed of being a well-built superstar someday. Consistent exercise and a lot of his time in the gym helped him get closer to his dream. However, when it came to explaining his goals to his parents, things didn’t go as planned. In fact, Schwarzenegger’s mother misunderstood his gesture toward motivating himself.

In a fun and candid chat with host Graham Norton in 2012, Arnold revealed an embarrassing incident from when he was young. Before the legend debuted as a novice bodybuilder, he would put up posters of established bodybuilders and other famous personalities. However, his mother did not appreciate the gesture.

Arnold Schwarzenegger remembered his mother crying

In a conversation with Graham Norton, Arnold remembered his initial days when he started as a bodybuilder. In order to inspire and motivate himself, the legend would paste posters of boxers, weightlifters, strongmen, and bodybuilders on his wall. Watching the well-built men every day pushed him to work harder toward his goals. Budding with excitement, when the champion showed his room to his mother, the reaction he got from her was unexpected.

He embarrassingly admitted that his mother started crying and was really concerned. While the star put up the posters to motivate himself, mama Schwarzenegger misunderstood the purpose. All she saw was a bunch of oiled-up men in her son’s bedroom.

Arnold recalled how his moment of pride changed drastically. He told Norton, “she was very concerned about that I love oiled-up men”. Everyone broke into laughter after hearing how a heartwarming moment went wrong. However, Arnold laughed along and joked around about this embarrassing moment.

Arnold’s parents had their own opinions on his career

Arnold initially faced rejection from his father about his career choice. In fact, his father would often hold back on compliments, even though he tried to push his son forward in the field. However, his parents eventually came around and supported him in his dreams.
