Arnold Schwarzenegger was born and brought up in Austria and came to the USA in 1968. Schwarzenegger’s once girlfriend, Barbara Outland Baker, once opened up about a big turn-off she saw in Arnold.

Arnold Schwarzenegger was an embarrassment to Baker

In an interview with The Telegraph in 2003, Baker revealed that Schwarzenegger came to the USA with just big dreams. Now an English professor, Baker revealed Schwarzenegger could not even speak 200 words in English.

The “European” clothing Arnold Schwarzenegger sported embarrassed Barbara. All her friends’ husbands were doctors or lawyers, and they didn’t approve of Arnold Schwarzenegger. Arnold assured Barbara that her friends and their husbands were traditional and that one day Arnold would win over the world.

Baker was from a wealthy and conservative family. She found Arnold’s table manners distasteful and remarked, “He had poor table manners.” She added, “When I first met him, I found him a turn-off.” Barbara felt humiliated to be seen in public with Arnold. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Barbara Baker dated for six years before splitting up in 1975. When the two parted ways, Schwarzenegger was a world-famous bodybuilder, Mr. Universe winner, and Pumping Iron star.

Baker and Schwarzenegger had different goals

Barbara Baker wanted to settle down, marry, and have kids. Her then-boyfriend, Arnold, was more concerned about having a big name and career for himself. They decided to part ways when the two saw differences in their life approaches. Arnold proved his claimed and became a cultural icon for generations.

He did iconic roles like The Terminator and also became the Governor of California in 2003. Eleven years after breaking up with Barabara, Arnold married American royalty and journalist Maria Shriver. Arnold and Maria had four children and 25 years of a successful marriage.

However, Arnold and Shriver separated in 2011 after the secret of Arnold’s son with his housekeeper was revealed. Arnold and his ex-wife, Maria Shriver, however, claimed that they would look after their children together.
