Flex Wheeler has attained a big name in bodybuilding. However, Wheeler doesn’t have any Mr. Olympia titles in his name, he has won four Arnold Classic titles. His physique is recognized as one of the best physiques in the bodybuilding world. Moreover, what makes Wheeler’s success special is the hurdles that he had to cross to become a recognized IFBB bodybuilder.

Being a martial arts fan before entering bodybuilding helped Wheeler in achieving an aesthetic physique. Eventually, after retiring in 2003, he once again pursued his undone interest. In an interview in 2019, Wheeler revealed his goal other than bodybuilding. What did Flex Wheeler want to do?

The non-bodybuilding goal Flex Wheeler shared in 2019

Flex Wheeler made his debut in pro-bodybuilding in 1990 and competed against some of the greats like Dorian Yates, Lee Haney, and Ronnie Coleman. He suffered from health problems throughout his career. In the late 90s, he got diagnosed with FSGS, but he still competed until 2003. After which he retired as he also had a kidney transplant the same year. 

After 16 years of retirement, Flex Wheeler disclosed his goal outside of bodybuilding. When the interviewer asked“What are your non-bodybuilding goals Flex?” To which Flex replied, “Like I said, I would like to begin acting in movies as I feel I have a physique that is like nothing the acting world has seen.”

He continued, “I am also in negotiations concerning a special project that I can’t even talk about at the moment. I have got the green light, but I can’t say too much right now except that it will be ground-shattering.”

Did Flex Wheeler reach his goal?

As Flex Wheeler was on the way to follow Arnold Schwarzenegger’s footsteps. Unfortunately, an incident took place in his life that completely changed his life upside down. The kidney dysfunction once again occurred and was more lethal this time. The failure of kidneys to filter blood properly led to blockages in the artery. Which further led to a condition where doctors had only one way to save his life.

Eventually, the doctors had to amputate Flex’s leg. In addition, after the amputation of the leg, Flex couldn’t do the role he was supposed to play. However, Flex has done a few documentaries and taken part in them but not in a commercial movie.

Unfortunately, for now, Flex Wheeler hasn’t acted in any movie other than some documentaries. Although leg amputation hasn’t stopped him. He still workout and has maintained the classy physique he had.
