Some people might think of bodybuilding as a sport, while for others it is much more than that. Bodybuilding seems to have no end for Jim Arrington, the world’s oldest bodybuilder. At an age when most bodybuilders give up, 90–year-old Jim Arrington is still going strong. He has been lifting weights for the last 74 years and has an exciting health regime.

At 45, he started participating in bodybuilding competitions. In 1978, Jim made his debut at the Mr.America contest. He secured the second position, achieving the “Most Muscular” title. Throughout his bodybuilding career, Jim participated in 60 competitions and won 16 0f them.

What bodybuilding regime does Jim Arrington follow at 90?

At 12, Jim came across a muscle magazine in a drugstore. Just the sight of muscular bodybuilders blew his mind away. Afterward, he began reading muscle-building magazines and books to get more inspired. He was 15 when he started weight-training using steel balls and went from 115 to 128 pounds in a few months.

Since then, Jim has been unstoppable. He would do squats and drink milk while working a sales job. Moreover, at the age of 90, he still manages to train with a planned schedule. Jim does split-ups, to begin with. He described his regime to Men’s Health in a recent interview

“I cut the body up in three sections: For instance, I would do legs on Monday. And mid-body, including the abs, chest, and the lower and middle back on Wednesday. And then I do shoulders and arms on Friday.”

On Friday, Jim performs exercises like reverse and front pulleys, lateral raise machine, and curl exercises, followed by pulley triceps. Moreover, he also does a 20-rep warm-up session with heavy weights and small rest gaps in between.

What is Jim Arrington’s diet? 

Jim’s diet is mind-blowing and hard to believe for that kind of age. The oldest bodybuilder follows a no-carb diet. He consumes optimum protein with olive oil, which is his primary source of fat. Jim eats vegetables like sweet potatoes, mushrooms, and a considerable amount of olive oil weekly.

He consumes a large quantity of salad with every meal to absorb high-fiber portions. Jim also takes whey protein to reach his daily target of protein. Overall, Jim’s passion for bodybuilding is commendable. As the oldest bodybuilder in the world, Jim leaves no stone unturned in maintaining a healthy body.
