Biding farewell to close ones is always challenging. For bodybuilding legend Arnold Schwarzenegger, things got difficult when such news broke in. As Arnold lost his dear friend, Jim Lorimer, he could not help but confess, “I am devastated.” In an unexpected turn of events, the co-founder of Arnold Classic, Jim Lorimer, left for his heavenly abode last Thursday.

Aged 96, the former corporate executive and an FBI agent touched many lives. Now, joining his father and thousands of others, the Staircase fame actor Patrick Schwarzenegger took to his Twitter to pay his respect to Jim.

Arnold’s son expresses his condolences

Upon hearing the sad news, Patrick wrote on Twitter“What a life. Rip Jim Lorimer. A pleasure to know you and watch the impact you made in the fitness /bodybuilding community.” For those unversed, Lim and Arnold were old friends. Their friendship dates back to the 70s, and it started when Lorimer invited the rising bodybuilding star Schwarzenegger to an event in Columbus, Ohio.

The two were united by their passion for making bodybuilding a known sport. They were motivated to spread awareness and encourage the youth to pursue the sport. Together the two friends started the famous Arnold Classic event. With time, the event gained huge success and became one of the most famous mega sporting events.

A visionary in a real sense, Lorimer is credited for the success of bodybuilding and other sports by Arnold and many industry veterans. Having lived an eventful life, the former, thus, inspired generations and left a legacy that one can always look up to. Therefore, when the news of his death came, the former Mr. Olympia champion could stop himself from paying his respect.

In a special tribute, Mr. Universe title winner and bodybuilding champion shared an emotional message on his official Instagram post to remember his dear friend. Recalling the good old times spent together, the 75-year-old writes, “I won’t sit with him again and hear his wisdom, or critique bodybuilders together, or just laugh and laugh.”

In the difficult times, Arnold also extended his support to the Lorimer family. Commemorating his legacy, Arnold writes, “Jim isn’t gone.” As the former Governor of California rightly puts, “Jim lives on in every member of his family, and he lives on in me.”
