Arnold Schwarzenegger tried to hide from people once for a funny reason
It is not a secret that Arnold Schwarzenegger is a car enthusiast. The superstar actor has had an incredible car collection ever since he became a successful bodybuilder. His fans would keep a track of the cars that he bought and let go of. In his book ‘Total Recall: My Unbelievably True-Life Story,’ he revealed an interesting incident involving one of his cars.
Arnold had gone all the way to Oregon to get his first sports utility Jeep Cherokee Chief. He made sure that the massive beast had a great sound system and a siren so that he could show off and scare other vehicles away.
The legend would drive the vehicle around the town very proudly until his wife Maria and her friend Bonnie Reiss plastered his Jeep with Kennedy ’80 posters and bumper stickers. Arnold, being a Republican, was scared that people would make fun of him for driving around with a democrat’s campaign stickers.
Arnold was ashamed to drive around in his favorite car with all those posters. “But now when we drove around town, I’d sink a little lower in the seat, hoping that no one would see me. It was weird pulling up at the gym every day: like most of the people there, I was known as a Republican, and now here I was with the Teddy stickers,” he wrote.
Arnold’s political career
Arnold’s decision to enter politics came as a shocker to most, as he was already having a successful acting career. Arnold contested the governor election in 2003 in the gubernatorial election against the then-governor Gray Davis. The legendary bodybuilder won the elections in 2003.
