However, a couple of months back, an Instagram page featured a bodybuilder who tore his tendon while doing a six-plate squat in the gym. The horrific video projected the man in severe pain and having to rush to the hospital. What exactly happened to him? Let’s check out.

Bulk weight caused unbearable circumstances

On December 31, 2022, Go Pump Yourself posted a video on their Instagram page highlighting the situation of a bodybuilder after he broke his limb. The post had an apt caption reading, “Hazards of the hobby.” In that short video, Christian Walker, a gym fanatic, was doing squats with heavy weights. While Walker was standing up to perform his next squat, the viewers could hear a clicking sound coming. The barbell fell on his neck. Soon he collapsed into the floor and got rid of the barbell. While he was crying in pain, no one around him realized what exactly happened to Walker. Gymgoers came forward to look into the matter, but Walker informed them that he was feeling alright.

Interestingly, the fitness enthusiast thought of the injury to be a mere sprain until he saw a doctor. And wrote in the caption, “I could walk it off”, and continued, “Walked/hobbled my happy a** to the E.R.” While in the doctor’s chamber with his wife, Walker came to know that he tore his quad tendon while performing the workout. He had to undergo surgery and days to rest to recover properly. These injuries are usual in bodybuilding, and in fact, some bodybuilders tend to hide and tolerate them. Just like legendary Dorian Yates did once.

How did Dorian Yates manage his injury?

Yates never shied away from showcasing his incredible feat in the sport. In fact, his verve and flair in bodybuilding fetched him the nickname of The Shadow. However, Yates once overshadowed his struggles with his ripped physique and well-conditioned body in a competition. The IFBB pro tore his tricep tendon just before performing in a contest.

But as he didn’t want anyone to know about it, he kept it hidden. In fact, he performed his posing routine with great strength even after knowing that his tendon is completely detached from his body. This indeed projected the cons of the sport.
