However, once a former bodybuilder revealed how Schwarzenegger criticized the sport and modern bodybuilders. Arnold won seven Mr. Olympia titles in the sport and retired in 1980.
Arnold Schwarzenegger criticizes modern bodybuilder
During an interview, a former bodybuilder, Dorian Yates, who won Mr. Olympia six times, discloses Arnold’s thinking toward him. First, he shows gratitude towards the Austrian Oak for taking the sport to another level. After that, he revealed Arnold’s criticism of the sport and upcoming bodybuilders.
He said, “He gave the sport a big boost, so we have to be thankful for that. But honestly, I don’t know him that well. We had a bit of a well; he felt that he had to attack modern bodybuilding and myself as the leader of modern bodybuilding in the mid-90s through the magazines, and I did a reply to him which kind of he shot himself in thought because he was criticizing myself and the sports and everything.”
Furthermore, he added how Arnold never did good things for him. He said, “And I just replied, like you know, I don’t know how he can criticize me or the sport because he doesn’t know me. I never met him; I’ve never spoken to him personally, and he doesn’t know anything about the sports because he doesn’t come to watch the competition, he never goes to Mr. Olympia, never Arnold does exactly what’s good for Arnold.” However, since the beginning, he has struggled a lot to achieve this position in his life. He came a long way from home, stepped into the bodybuilding world, played quite a few well-known roles in Hollywood movies, and eventually became the Governor of California.

Dorian criticizes Arnold for the 1980 competition
Given his incredible physique, he consistently oozes charisma and confidence, which makes his admirers look up to him. However, while his career was at its peak, Dorian also criticized Schwarzenegger for winning the 1980 Mr. Olympia. Yates spoke candidly about how Arnold had wrongly used his connections to enter the stage.
He pointed out how Arnold competed in the 1980 Mr. Olympia contest after the registration deadline had passed. Popularity brings heavy responsibilities, and Arnold’s situation seems to fit this description. Arnold enjoyed a successful bodybuilding career before transitioning to acting and politics.
