Lou Ferrigno is one of the biggest bodybuilders in the history of the sport. Ferrigno retired from bodybuilding in 1975 before reappearing in 1992. However, the year 1977 is considered the turning point of his life. The year when he played the role of Hulk in the television series and also featured in the documentary, ‘Pumping Iron’.

Later, he also worked as a personal trainer for popular celebrities. And one of the biggest celebrities he trained was the ‘King of Pop’, Michael Jackson. Ferrigno got the opportunity to train the legendary superstar in his life. After Jackson’s demise in 2009, Ferrigno talked to ‘Good Morning America Exclusive’ and revealed his experience with MJ.

Lou Ferrigno disclosed why MJ was losing weight 

Lou Ferrigno got to train Michael Jackson when he suffered from chronic back pain. Jackson turned to Ferrigno as he needed someone he could trust, as the upcoming shows weren’t far away. Ferrigno worked with him and his aching body to recover quickly. But it was difficult to train someone who used to eat just one time a day and practice for hours.

After his demise in 2009, Ferrigno didn’t believe what he saw and heard. While talking with GMA, Ferrigno revealed what he observed about MJ. He said, “Well when I saw him, it may have been a little bit lately. You gotta remember that dancing four-five hours a day under tremendous sweat and with eating once a day.”

He continued, “So he had a tendency to keep losing weight, but I think eventually he would is a gain all it back once the tour began.”

Ferrigno didn’t believe it when he heard about the demise

Ferrigno was working as Michael Jackson’s trainer when he died. Although Ferrigno’s style of bodybuilding was different from what MJ needed. As MJ needed to relieve the chronic pain that had affected his performance lately. Ferrigno had to just work on MJ’s stretching and a few points that relieved his pain.

Ferrigno was eagerly waiting for England’s tour to finish so that he can work more on his weight. He assumed the weight will get back on track once they go on the tour. The news hit him as a massive shock as he was only fifty years old and Ferrigno was looking forward to working with him for a much longer time.

Lou Ferrigno feels blessed to be a trainer and a friend of the legend. The demise of the King of Pop affected Ferrigno as he had plans with the star and losing a friend never hurt less.
