Despite now being a successful bodybuilder-turned-actor, there was a time when he led a drastically different life in his nation. It’s one of the major parts of Schwarzenegger’s life, where he worked in the Austrian army in 1965 to complete the required year of the military. However, he once shared an incident where his tank driving skill nearly killed someone.
Arnold Schwarzenegger on his tank driving skills
At the age of 18, Arnold impeccably passed his tank driving tests. However, according to him, he has some difficulties concentrating while driving it. Meanwhile, the incident happened just like in Hollywood movies. By mistake, the seven-time Mr.Olympia winner drove the tank backward, which smashed a wall and gas pipes.
However, after doing the damage, he went to another officer and told him everything. Schwarzenegger thought the officer would help him. But seeing the damage, Arnold described how the officer “almost died.” After that, the officer, “started screaming — I mean he started screaming.” He sarcastically added, “He almost got a heart attack.”
However, even after the big incident, Arnold’s love for these enormous armored vehicles was unaffected. Schwarzenegger once paid $20k to have his old army tank, a 1951 M-47 Patton, which also caused more money due to the delivery in America.
