Mamdouh “Big Ramy” Elssbiay had occupied the Mr. Olympia throne for two consecutive years. This year too, most people expected Ramy to maintain his winning streak and strike a hat trick. But that dream came to an end when the winners were announced. Instead of placing first, Big Ramy placed fifth in this year’s tournament. However, not discouraged by the loss, Ramy is determined to find the reason for his downfall.

What went wrong with Big Ramy at Mr. Olympia 2022?

Mr. Olympia 2022 was one of the biggest bodybuilding competitions of the year. While the 2x Mr. Olympia lost at the event, people are still wondering what went wrong for the event to take such an unexpected turn. Two days after the contest ended, Ramy was asked the question that, by now, everyone wants to know the answer to.

But what may come as a bigger surprise is that the bodybuilder himself has no answer. Talking about what went wrong, Ramy said he still could not put a finger on it. And the best solution the bodybuilder came up with to come out of the dilemma is to directly seek the answers from the judges.

“I don’t know exactly until right now because I have to ask the judge what’s the problem. Because it is their judgment and it’s very important. And then I have to ask them what the problem is. Why in this place when I will know what it is I will try to fix it,” said helpless Big Ramy.

Big Ramy’s future goals

The defeat has shaken him up to the core. However, it wasn’t enough to make the bodybuilder pack his bags and never return. Taking it as a wake-up call that there is still room for improvement, Ramy plans to present his improved version in the competitions next year.
