In his latest awareness video on how a substance can be harmful to the body, Martin ‘The Martian’ Fitzwater talks about the harmful effects of vaping. A relatively new trend, vaping has become a viral addiction, especially among the younger demographic. The popular notion that vaping is safer than smoking cigarettes and is available in various flavors has led many who don’t even smoke to get addicted.

The IFBB pro begins his video with the question, “Does vaping affect you as a pro bodybuilder?” The Martian says it “depends on what you’re vaping.” but “it’s definitely going to affect your respiratory system.” Cardiovascular capacity plays a major role in bodybuilding, but vaping affects training “in all shapes and forms.” The CDC also recorded that at the height of the popularity of vaping in 2019, more people were getting hospitalized due to lung issues from e-cigarette use.

Hence if training gets compromised, muscle growth will get compromised too. The IFBB pro ends the video by saying that addictions like vaping “builds unnecessary habits and that’s something you don’t need for bodybuilding.” In the caption, Fitzwater writes, “Bodybuilding requires a lot of discipline, and adding something harmful to your body can only hurt the physique you are trying to sculpt.” However, vaping isn’t the only addiction Fitzwater has talked about.
