Arnold Schwarzenegger has been involved in multiple fields and has found success in almost all of them. From bodybuilding to acting and then his run at the Governor’s office, Arnie has always had his hands full. Besides all this, Schwarzenegger has been a family man. Despite his busy schedule, he always made time for his family. Spending time with his little daughters also helped him reconnect with something he loved doing as a kid.
Most people have had at least one hobby as a kid. Be it an indoor thing like painting or an outdoor sport like basketball. However, with time people forget about the little things that made them happy. Although, some find their way back to it. The Schwarzeneggers were in Washington for a month as Arnie shot his 1994 film, True Lies. It was the same movie the idea of which was pitched to him by his brother-in-law Bobby Shriver. As director James Cameron preferred shooting at night, Arnie had ample time to be with his family during the day. Since the shooting took place right after his wife Maria Shriver gave birth to little Patrick, the family had tagged along so Schwarzenegger can fulfill his personal as well as professional duties. This was when Arnie got the chance to touch base with his childhood hobby.
Schwarzenegger had always expressed his love for painting, but never made the effort to make the preparations. So, with the kids playing around and Arnie having some time during the day, his assistant Ronda did the needful. In his autobiography, Total Recall, he wrote, “My assistant, Ronda, the artist, had gotten me back to painting, something I’d loved as a kid.”

So what did the Austrian Oak and his little ones paint?
The endearing artistic pieces by The Schwarzeneggers
One Saturday morning, three hours were allocated to father-daughter painting time. The ambiance of the place- French doors, balcony, piano, and the seaside view became Arnie’s inspiration to draw again. The Austrian Oak would draw castles and paint birthday and Christmas cards for his then-wife and kids.
Recalling the time spent with his two daughters, Schwarzenegger added, “The girls and I got into this delightful rhythm of drawing and playing together…” Apart from the cards, Schwarzenegger recalled drawing candles for Shriver and a pumpkin for baby Patrick with crayons.
