Eight-time Mr. Olympia Ronnie Coleman was a phenom on the stage. No one could match Ronnie’s size and conditioning. However, since retiring, ‘The King’ has had it rough. Multiple surgeries have wreaked havoc on his nervous system. For years, Ronnie’s legs have been numb, and after his second hip replacement, things got even worse. Ronnie recently hopped on regular stem cell treatment. In a YouTube video, ‘The King’ explained just how much the treatment helped in his recovery.

Ronnie Coleman hopeful about stem cell treatment

On episode eight of the ‘Ask Me Anything’ series that Ronnie uploads on his YouTube channel, a fan asked, “When will you walk without a chair?”. Ronnie answered, “I’m working real hard on that. … Right now, I’m going to Mexico every four months, getting these stem cells treatments.”

Ronnie continued, “They are working out real good.” However, the former champion bodybuilder couldn’t say exactly how long it’ll take to get back on his feet. He added, “So, when will I walk without a chair? Only time will tell, but hopefully soon and very soon!”

The eight-time Mr. Olympia also clarified that while working very hard to walk without assistance, “Mostly I use the chair for long distances”. It looks like Ronnie seemed very optimistic about the progress he has been making on stem cell treatment. This also isn’t the first time Coleman has talked about it.

Ronnie has been on stem cell treatment for about a year now. Last month, Ronnie revealed in a podcast that the treatment in Mexico has helped a lot in relieving the pain in his body. In 2018’s ‘Ronnie Coleman: The King’ documentary, Ronnie said that he needed to take painkillers throughout the day.

The former Mr. Olympia has had back issues since his college football days. Ronnie also suffered injuries while competing in bodybuilding. However, the Louisiana native didn’t seek any treatment before retiring in 2007.

The result of 13 back surgeries

Since 2007, ‘The King’ has had 13 surgeries just to fix his spine. Ronnie has had surgeries done to fix his neck, lower back, and hips. However, after being operated on so many times, the former Mr. Olympia was nearly crippled. While Ronnie’s condition has improved and he still works out regularly in the gym, Coleman can’t walk without assistance.
