Arnold Schwarzenegger is one of the greatest bodybuilders in American history. In 2009, Schwarzenegger received a Doctorate of Humane Letters honor the University of Southern California. According to Wales Online, the bodybuilder-turned-actor-turned-politician received this special award for his “inspirational realization of the American dream”.

However, two years later, in 2011, Schwarzenegger appeared on Jay Leno’s talk show. Host Leno then congratulated the bodybuilder on his doctorate honor and asked if Schwarzenegger’s then-wife Maria Shriver was happy about this honor. To this question, “The Austria Oak” gave a hilarious answer that sent the audience into a fit of laughter.

Schwarzenegger said, “You know she loves it. She was there at the ceremony, gave her another reason to buy a $1000 dress.” Adding to the joke he said, “She buys a dress even when I get a speeding ticket.”

But later, Schwarzenegger confessed his wife was indeed very happy for him. He recalled the night he received his special honor and said, “No, she was very happy. I remember the night when I got the degree, I flew home, and I put on my pajamas and I put on some cologne, and then I went into the bedroom and said ‘Maria the doctor’s ready to see you.'”
