Aesthetic bodybuilding Guru Frank Zane is a three-time Mr.Olympia who is extremely famous for his unique training and diet routine. Unlike other bodybuilders across decades, The Chemist followed a lightweight training strategy. He looked graceful while posing in competitions, blowing away the minds of the judges and audiences.

Frank Zane is credited for bringing an aesthetic curve to bodybuilding. He began bodybuilding in his teenage years after getting influenced by Muscle Magazine. Besides his successful bodybuilder, the 80-year-old taught mathematics and chemistry while living in California and Florida. Moreover, he also has a Bachelor’s degree in psychology.
Frank Zane talked about the exercise that only he did
According to the traditional bodybuilding belief, bodybuilders were supposed to train with heavy weights. However, Frank Zane was famous for doing lightweight training. Moreover, after Sergio Oliver, he had the thinnest waistline in Mr.Olympia. He was reluctant to work with heavyweight training and followed a unique set of exercises that perfectly shaped his body.

Currently, Frank Zane is running his consultation firm. He helps bodybuilders train their bodies as he did. Earlier, Frank trained bodybuilder Mike O’Hearn. While training him, he made him commit to an exercise that he believed nobody practices anymore. Zane made the bodybuilder lay on a bench while hanging his head. The bodybuilder was trained to hold a dumbbell with both hands and bring it down way below the head slowly.
In the video, while making him do the exercise, Zane stated, “Great exercise nobody does them […] I never saw anybody doing these at Gold’s Gym when I train there, nobody except me.”
As a bodybuilder, Frank Zane took supplements to build his body better. The Chemist makes sure to consume supplements and amino acids in the right quantity. Everything that Zane did was very calculative. From exercise to diet and supplements, he knew how each of them would affect him.
Frank Zane’s trainer convinced him to do heavyweight training
Frank Zane became popular for his aesthetic body, which he shaped with lightweight training. However, the only thing that was missing from his stardom till then was the Mr. Olympia title. Trainer Joe Weider convinced him to adapt to heavyweight to win the prestigious title. In 1977, Frank won his first Mr. Olympia title after intense heavy-weigh training.

He continued to win the title for the next two years as well. However, after winning it for the third time, he experienced acute pain in his shoulder and legs.
