Arnold Schwarzenegger recalls an unfortunate incident

The star bodybuilder, Arnold Schwarzenegger, was a part of ‘The Tim Ferriss Show in 2015. His life as the governor of California, and his career as a bodybuilder, were some topics covered in the podcast. The show’s host, Tim Ferris, spoke about the Italian bodybuilder, Franco Columbu. The host recalled the time when Franco’s leg had dislocated during a contest, and doctors thought that said that he would not be able to walk again.

Arnold called it an unfortunate incident. Opening up about the horrific incident that nearly cost his best friend’s career, he said, ” There was a hole in the road in the parking lot. And It’s just one of those unfortunate things. Franco had to pay for it, the mistakes that the organizers did.” The legendary bodybuilder appreciated Franco’s comeback even after a life-threatening injury.

Arnold had a similar knee injury while doing squats in 1972, because of which, he could relate to his best friend. But he came back stronger and went on to win Mr. Olympia in 1973. Arnold believes his comeback inspired Franco and made him believe it was possible to bounce back from such a severe injury. Franco went on to win Mr. Olympia in 1981.
