Dr. Stefi Cohen is the first woman to perform a deadlift 4.4 times her body weight. Undeniably, she is a wonder woman for having more than 25 records under her name. In her journey from battling an eating disorder, to being a successful powerlifter, Cohen debunked several stereotypes. She has many titles to her name: a physiotherapist, an author, a host, a fitness coach, and a social media influencer. Deflating all the myths related to bodybuilding, Cohen is on her way to taking on the fitness industry in a new way.

Earlier today, she posted a video addressing the important points to keep in mind before going to the gym. The 25x world-record-holding powerlifter shared some of her wisdom with the rookies.

Bodybuilding tips from Dr. Cohen

Sharing the post on her Instagram handle, she captioned it with, “Dear day one beginner: here’s your sign to level up”. For Dr. Cohen, fitness is the key to a healthy life. Thus, the relationship between the two should be smooth and not complex. She talked about some major concerns that anyone should beware of before going to the gym. Cohen listed, “Having a lot of weight on the bar looks silly if the weight is handling you”. Further, she added, “Ditch the bar pad when you’re squatting, and the lifting gloves when you’re lifting, you don’t need them”. Finally, she mentioned one of the primary things: “Just stick to the basics. Push, pull, hinge, carry. There’s no need for overcomplicated exercises.”

 

Indeed, her tips are very helpful, especially when someone is on their first day at the gym. She even shared, “These are the Three things I wish someone had shared with me when I first started going to the gym”. Dr. Cohen advocates issues related to the sport on her fitness website. Just as she became the first woman powerlifter in her category, she debunked some stereotypes as well. Stefi had her priorities set when it came to training and nutrition.

Diet and strength correlation

Dr. Cohen earnestly promotes an evidence-based view of training and nutrition. According to her, just like doing a proper workout suitable for the body is important, a relevant diet plays the same role. She has a passion to be an advisor and works rigorously to challenge the myths and deliver results as a coach.

Cohen is happy that she can eat anything as she wrote, “From eating disorder to full FREEDOM. I eat whatever I want, have a good relationship with food and my body, and the knowledge to make it change in any way I want.” Indeed, mental peace helps in the transformation that everyone needs.
