Supplying answers for all curious minds, bodybuilding champion Arnold Schwarzenegger once revealed the exercise that all athletes do.

Several decades ago, Schwarzenegger appeared on a TV program and demonstrated the ways in which one can build muscles. He illustrated three simple exercises for beginners.

In November 2017, the YouTube channel “Blast From the Past” unearthed an epic video of Arnold Schwarzenegger from his early bodybuilding days. The clip was from a TV program where a young Schwarzenegger showed the world a few simple exercises that they could include in their workout routines to build muscle. These exercises included the bench press, squats, and weight lifting.

First, he demonstrated how to perform a bench press. According to him, the bench press is a basic exercise that every beginner should do, irrespective of the sport they are in. Additionally, he shared that it aids in developing the pectoral muscles.

Next, he moved on to squats. Explaining the exercise, he said, “The next exercise that you do after that is what we call a squat or knee bend. You put the weight behind.” He further added that it’s an exercise that all athletes include in their workout routine. “Every athlete is doing it – skiers, soccer players, football players. Everybody is doing it,” said the legend.

Lastly, for the weightlifting section, he suggested that beginners start with dumbbells. He added that they are very good for developing the arms – the lids and the biceps – and a simple exercise that one can do right from the beginning.

Can anyone build muscle like Schwarzenegger?

According to the 7x Mr. Olympia, the answer to this question is a big yes. He believes that anyone can build muscles like him. However, he added that it all depends on their interest, purpose, and dedication.

He further elaborated that more often than not, a lot of people join gyms and start training with weights. However, their purpose might be limited to staying fit and healthy. He added that only 5% of the people who take up weight training do it for the same reasons as he did, i.e. to compete professionally.
