After relocating to America, the ex-army official, Arnold Schwarzenegger, worked hard to get his way up the success ladder. Reflecting on the decision that earned him some earful from his mother-in-law and former wife Maria Shriver, the Austrian Oak opened up. In an interview with famous talk show host Jay Leno, Arnold Schwarzenegger walks his audience through lesser-known truths of his life in a day.

The fans may see Schwarzenegger playing movie roles with utmost precision. But when it came to real life, the situation stands otherwise. As Jay Leno enquired, “have you made mistakes?” The Terminator star had an honest confession to make. Revealing his flawed side, Schwarzenegger remarked, “I have made mistakes.”

Sharing with the audience an honest take from his life, he talked about that one time when he had cut a program titled Mentally Disabled. Though the team had a differing opinion and did not want to cut the part because it was already filmed, Schwarzenegger remained adamant.

Following his decision, his mother-in-law was quick to intervene. Getting an earful for his hasty decision, Schwazengger recalled getting a phone call from Eunice Kennedy Shriver, his former mother-in-law. The family bashing did not just stop there. Soon to join the wagon was his then-wife Maria. It was around “2:00 am in the morning,” as Arnold remembered when Maria again reminded him of his mistake. The next morning saw Schwarzenegger resuming the program and announced to his team that there would be”No more cuts, no more cuts.”

Accepting mistakes is more important, reflects Schwarzenegger 

Being her typical self, Shriver continued reminding her husband of his poor decision the following day as well. She reminded him to put the program back during the next day’s workout. Upon realizing his mistake, Schwarzenegger was quick to rectify himself.

Talking about how time constraints and the budget sometimes leads to such hasty decisions, he acknowledges that “the key thing is to admit the mistakes and then correct it.” Thus, according to Schwarzenegger, taking ownership is essential. Even though Arnold and Maria lead separate lives, she had an instrumental role in his life throughout their 25 years of marriage
