Bodybuilding was revolutionized during the 70s when people admired Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s physique, which set up the standard and increased the fan base. But fitness and bodybuilding didn’t begin then. It was in business a long time ago. Hollywood star Mark Wahlberg, who played a con gym owner in the 2013 released movie Pain And Gain, now is coming up with a very interesting documentary and a narrative film that describes the journey of the fitness pioneer, Jack LaLanne.

Jack LaLanne was a massive name in the fitness industry. LaLanne became associated with fitness long before it was a trend or even a way of lifestyle. This documentary will deal with the inspiring journey of the legend and the triumphs he achieved in his life.

A tribute to the fitness pioneer

Upon the demise of the legendary fitness guru in 2011, Arnold Schwarzenegger spoke a few words about his legacy. Schwarzenegger said, “It doesn’t matter where you go, there is a health club and it all started with Jack LaLanne.” LaLanne made a huge impact in the fitness industry throughout his life. And now actor/producer, Mark Wahlberg, along with Wonderfilm Media and LaLanne’s widow, Elaine, and the LaLanne family are going to release a biopic/documentary about him.

The documentary is already in its production, and the producers are eying a spring 2024 production start. As we spoke of the production, Wahlberg, Stephen Levinson, & Archie Gips for Unrealistic Ideas, and Jeff Bowler and Bret Saxon for Wonderfilm. Also producing are RD Robb and Elaine, Dan, John, and Yvonne LaLanne are the producers of the documentary.

While talking about the film, LaLanne’s wife said, “When Mark Wahlberg first came to visit with me, I recognized the parallels between Jack and Mark. I believed he and his company were the right ones to bring Jack’s legacy forward. After meeting with [Wonderfilm’s] Jeff and Bret, I knew we had the perfect team.”

The late fitness guru’s story is an inspiration to youngsters. Unrealistic Ideas President said, “Jack revolutionized America’s health and fitness culture. Working with Elaine and the LaLanne family, as well as the thousands of hours of archival material at our disposal, we will be able to tell the authentic, deeply personal, and definitive story of Jack LaLanne.”

A small glance into the life of the Late Jack LaLanne

Jack LaLanne was born in 1914 in California. He became a fitness lover early in his life due to the complications he had with his body. But he didn’t back off. He worked on himself rigorously and consistently and became a businessman at 18. The late fitness guru used to bake loaves of bread and other healthy bakery items. In addition, he opened a home gym, which is also credited as the Nation’s first gym, where he trained personnel like police officers and firefighters.

His immense knowledge of fitness and his experience led him to a TV show, The Jack LaLanne Show. The show was inaugurated in 1951 and successfully ran for 34 years before it shut down in 1985. He used to train basic exercises and training that can be done at home through his show. Moreover, he remained healthy and pretty fit even at 96 when he died of pneumonia in 2011 at his home in California.

Jack LaLanne may not be as popular as Arnold Schwarzenegger for our generation, but his contribution to the fitness world is vast. He popularized famous exercises such as jumping jacks, waist exercises, etc., and provided people with the best nutritional tips of the time. All the bodybuilding and fitness fans will certainly be waiting for his biopic/documentary to be out soon.
