Strength sports like Olympic weightlifting and powerlifting are different than bodybuilding. However, one thing these sports share in common is that they all revolve around lifting heavy weights. Hence, powerlifters and bodybuilders often dabble in one another’s sports and share an appreciation for the other’s discipline. So when an 80-year-old female powerlifter pulled off an insane feat of strength, bodybuilding legend Flex Wheeler took notice.
The four-time Arnold Classic and five-time Ironman Pro winner shared the video of the woman lifting at a powerlifting meet. While the former Mr. Olympia runner-up often compliments the athletes he shouts out in his Instagram stories, he might have felt words couldn’t describe the awe-inspiring feat of strength by the 80-year-old.

Earlier, Flex Wheeler shared the video uploaded by the Instagram page FLY, HIP & AGELESS. The video, filmed by Instagram user LaDeanna Guy MBA, EA, showed 80-year-old powerlifter Nora Langdon performing a deadlift at the powerlifting meets. FLY, HIP & AGELESS posted the video a month ago, on March 17.
The text appearing during the video read, “80-year-old Ms. Nora deadlifting 312 pounds!” The Instagram page also credited the user who filmed the video, and Nora Langdon, by tagging them in the description. The footage showed Lagndon in powerlifting gear, including wrist wraps, shin guards, and a weight belt.
As Langdon attempted the lift, a spotter was at the ready behind her and the crowd cheered. However, the 80-year-old powerlifter didn’t need any assistance as she lifted 312 lbs and lowered it with a steady tempo instead of dropping the weight. However, the video or the description didn’t mention if it was her final lift of the competition. The 80-year-old who appeared on his Instagram story is a shining example of how Wheeler wished to empower others.
